Winemaker Mariano García and former appellation council director Javier Zaccagnini founded AALTO in Ribera del Duero in 1999. After several harvests in rented facilities in Roa, the project moved into its own winery at Quintanilla de Arriba for the 2005 vintage.
Old-vine Tinto Fino from several Ribera villages is made into wine in separate lots, then blended after ageing. The winery uses gravity handling, concrete, wood and stainless steel, with underground rooms for ageing.

Spanish Red
Blackberry and pomegranate lead an intense, expressive profile, joined by dark chocolate, mineral detail and warm spice. The palate is rich and voluptuous yet carries its scale with balance and surprising lightness. Ripe, firm tannins give structure, while liquorice, leather and savoury meat add depth. The texture stays velvety through a long, gently sweet finish. Decant before serving with roast lamb or braised beef.
