AboutBlack Stallion
Black Stallion Estate Winery opened in 2007 on a former equestrian property on Napa’s Silverado Trail. Its name recalls the horse centre that once stood there, complete with an indoor track, stalls and grandstands. The Indelicato family’s Delicato business acquired the winery in 2010.
Winemaker Ralf Holdenried joined in 2014, after studying at Geisenheim and the University of California, Davis, and working across California. Cabernet Sauvignon is central to the Napa estate, while the wider range also draws on cool-climate North Coast vineyards.
Black Stallion 2023 North Coast Chardonnay
Orange blossom, lemon curd and toasted almond aromas accompany luscious fruit, toasted bread, caramel and a light butter finish. Grapes come from North Coast vineyards in the Russian River Valley, Mendocino and Napa Valley. Fruit is harvested at night and pressed into fermentation tanks. Portions ferment on French oak, with weekly stirring, and the full blend completes malolactic fermentation. Alcohol is 14.5 percent.
