AboutBitburger

Bitburger began in 1817, when Johann Peter Wallenborn opened a small brewery in Bitburg, in Germany’s southern Eifel. The business passed to Ludwig Bertrand Simon through marriage in 1842 and remains a family enterprise, now under seventh-generation ownership. Theobald Simon brewed its first pilsner-style beer in 1883. The brewery’s Siegelhopfen comes from nearby Holsthum, where it works with a dedicated hop grower.
