AboutBischöfliche Weingüter Trier

Bischöfliche Weingüter Trier was formed in 1966 by bringing together three of Trier’s church estates. Its vineyards stretch along the Mosel, Saar and Ruwer, with Riesling at the centre of its work. They include parcels in Scharzhofberger, Ayler Kupp and Piesporter Goldtröpfchen. The former wine estate of Friedrich-Wilhelm-Gymnasium joined the group in 2003. The school’s wine estate began with vineyards donated to support the Jesuit college opened in Trier in 1561.

Grapes from the Middle Mosel and Ruwer are pressed at the historic Duisburger Hof near Trier-Eitelsbach. The wines then mature in vaulted cellars beneath Trier.
