AboutBersano
Giuseppe Bersano founded the winery in Nizza Monferrato in 1907, and his son Arturo took over in 1935. Today it is owned by the Massimelli family and led by Federica Massimelli, supported by her sisters and son.
The house works across ten farmsteads in the Langhe and Monferrato, with vineyards devoted largely to Piedmont’s native grapes. Its team oversees the wines from the vineyard through fermentation and ageing. Bersano also maintains a museum of rural life and a collection of wine prints in Nizza Monferrato.
Bersano 2010 Badarina Barolo Riserva
Dark berry, roasted coffee and menthol lead, followed by dried black cherry, liquorice and a measured toasted note. The palate is full and mature, with close-grained tannins giving the fruit a firm, savoury frame. Decant to let the aromatics unfold, then serve with braised beef, roast lamb, porcini risotto, aged hard cheese or other slow-cooked dishes.
