AboutBenriach Distillery
John Duff founded Benriach on the old Riach farm in northern Speyside in 1898. After a long closure, distilling resumed in 1965, and its first single-malt release followed in 1994. Master blender Rachel Barrie has led its whisky programme since 2017.
The distillery makes unpeated spirit, batches from Highland-peated malt and occasional triple-distilled spirit, using a varied selection of casks for maturation. Peated distillation returned in the early 1970s, and the first triple-distilled batches were made in the 1990s.
Benriach The Twelve 12 Year Old Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Scottish Whisky
Three-cask maturation brings together baked orchard fruit, sultana and cocoa over a smooth, honeyed malt core. Sherry casks add dried-fruit richness, bourbon barrels contribute vanilla and rounded oak, and port casks deepen the fruit without making the palate heavy. Gentle spice builds toward a long, balanced finish with lingering raisin and dark chocolate notes. Enjoy neat, with a few drops of water, or beside nutty hard cheese.
