AboutBel Colle
Bel Colle was founded in Verduno in the mid-1970s by Franco and Carlo Pontiglione with Giuseppe Priola. Winemaker Paolo Torchio helped shape its identity around Langhe varieties, including Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and the rare local Pelaverga. The Bosio family acquired the winery in 2015 and renewed its focus on vineyard parcels across Verduno, Barolo and Barbaresco.
Today Luca Bosio directs Bel Colle alongside Mario Albrito, whose work at the cellar reaches back to the early 2000s. About ten hectares of estate vineyards include sites in Verduno and other corners of the Langhe, with the range extending from regional wines to single-vineyard bottlings. Harvesting is by hand, with gentle handling in the cellar.
Belcolle 2021 Langhe DOC Nebbiolo
Ruby colour accompanies violet, raspberry, blackberry, cherry, plum and thyme. The palate is dry, velvety and medium-bodied, with balanced tannin and ripe fruit. Nebbiolo grows on sandy-calcareous soils around Alba. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with selected yeasts, and maturation lasts six months. Alcohol is 14 percent, and the finish is dry and fruit-focused.
