AboutBayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan

Weihenstephan’s monastery brewery received the right to brew and sell beer in 1040, when Abbot Arnold secured its licence in Freising. Brewing continued after the monastery’s dissolution in 1803, when its property and rights passed to the Bavarian state.

The Central Agricultural School moved to Weihenstephan in 1852 and later became part of the Technical University of Munich. The brewery has used the name Bavarian State Brewery Weihenstephan since 1921 and remains state-owned.

German Beer
$7.49
Dried apricot, ripe banana and clove lead an expressive aroma, with soft wheat malt underneath. The palate is full yet finely lifted, combining creamy texture with lively, almost sparkling carbonation. Orchard fruit and gentle spice stay balanced by a clean malt core and measured bitterness. The finish is warming, smooth and lightly dry. Serve well chilled with roast pork, sausages, creamy cheese or bread dumplings.
