Barone di Villagrande
Barone di Villagrande
The Nicolosi family settled on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily almost 300 hundred years ago. They arrived on a wooden cart, rolled up their sleeves and began working the land. In 1727 the Emperor Charles VI of Augsburg, King of Naples, bestowed Don Carmelo Nicolosi with the title of Baron of Villagrande.

Italian Red
An eighty-percent share of Nerello Mascalese is joined by Nerello Cappuccio and Nerello Mantellato. Delicate fruit, herbs and woodland tones define the profile, and maturation lasts one year in chestnut barrels. The wine carries Etna DOC status and thirteen percent alcohol. The vineyards sit on Etna, where southern warmth meets mist, pronounced temperature shifts and frequent rain.
