AboutBanshee
Banshee began at a bar in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighbourhood, with its founders borrowing from friends and family to make eight barrels of Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir. Its first tasting room opened in Healdsburg in 2013; in 2023 it moved to the winery in Alexander Valley.
Foley Family Wines became a partner in 2018 and now owns the brand. Winemaker Alicia Sylvester began making Banshee’s wines in 2021, working with growers across the cool western Sonoma Coast and selected sites farther inland.
Banshee 2021 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Chardonnay has aromas of honey, rice cake, ripe Bosc pear, butterscotch and lemon. Apple pie, lemon tart and caramel appear with moderate weight and depth of flavour. The wine is round and delicate, with bright acidity and a creamy finish. Maturation lasted eight months, with twenty-two percent new French oak and a portion held in stainless steel.
