AboutBalblair Distillery

Balblair was established in 1790 by John Ross on the Balnagown estate near Edderton, and the Ross family remained involved through much of the nineteenth century. Alexander Cowan took over the tenancy in 1894 and reshaped the site with a new still house, mash house, kiln and barns, using the nearby Highland railway to bring in barley and fuel. Inver House Distillers acquired the distillery in 1996.

Water comes from the Edderton Hills and barley from the Black Isle; distillation takes place in squat-necked copper stills. Traditional dunnage warehouses at the distillery have earthen floors.

Balblair 12 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Scottish Whisky
$124.99

Bright lemon, orange and orchard fruit meet honey and warm cinnamon in a poised Highland profile. The palate is rounded but fresh, with vanilla and gentle spice carried by a creamy texture; a lightly leathery note adds depth to the long, composed finish. Serve neat or with a few drops of water. Pair with roast chicken, smoked trout, aged cheddar or an apple tart that is not overly sweet.
