AboutBacksberg

Backsberg’s South African story begins in 1916, when Charles Louis Back bought Klein Babylonstoren near Paarl. What began as mixed farming gradually became a wine estate, guided across four generations by Sydney, Michael and Simon Back.

Environmental responsibility is another important part of the Backsberg story. In 2006, it became South Africa’s first certified carbon-neutral winery, and that commitment continues across the wines’ journey from vineyard to distribution.
