Montemelino occupies a hill on the northern side of Lake Trasimeno, where Margret Etten Cantarelli and Guido began running the farm in 1961. Their daughter Sabina now runs the farm with Pier, combining winegrowing, olive oil and hospitality. Guido’s murals decorate the restored farmhouses.
The property covers about 60 hectares, with nine hectares of vineyard gathered in one block close to the winery. Montemelino uses only estate-grown grapes, and pruning and harvest are done by hand. The farm follows organic-farming principles.
Montemelino 2019 Ciliegio Rosato

Fresh fruit and pleasant acidity define a balanced rosato. Ciliegiolo is the sole variety. The grapes are lightly direct-pressed before temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel. The vineyard lies about 250 metres above sea level on clay soil with a south-easterly exposure and spurred-cordon training. Harvesting is done by hand in September, with yields capped at five thousand kilograms per hectare.
