AboutAlto Moncayo
Bodegas Alto Moncayo was founded in 2002 in Campo de Borja to concentrate on wines from native Garnacha clones. The winery stands above the town of Borja and takes its name from the Moncayo peak that dominates the surrounding landscape.
Alto Moncayo, the flagship bottling, is made entirely from Garnacha vines between 40 and 70 years old. For this wine, bush vines grow from about 550 metres near Borja to 850 metres around Tabuenca, in soils of red clay, sandstone, gravel and rounded stones. Fruit is brought to the winery in small boxes, fermented in compact stainless-steel tanks and pressed in hydraulic basket presses before 20 months in new French and American oak.

Spanish Red
Dark purple, with ripe raspberry and black fruit layered over roasted nuts, vanilla and warm balsamic spice. Full and powerful on the palate, yet the fruit remains shaped by firm structure rather than simple sweetness. Savoury oak and dark berry depth carry into a long, composed and quietly warming finish.
