Les Ligériens 2013 Rosé d’Anjou
French Rosé
Strawberry, cherry and cranberry accompany a crisp, refreshing palate. Gamay and Grolleau form the blend, which is fermented in stainless steel and carries eleven percent alcohol. The rosé comes from Anjou in the Loire. Its vineyards lie on low slopes of schist and blue slate in Maine-et-Loire, and the cellar work includes cold settling and temperature-controlled fermentation.

French Rosé
Cabernet Franc makes up seventy percent of the blend, with Grolleau accounting for the remainder. The grapes are pressed immediately after harvest, using only the first pressing, then fermented without skins at low temperature. Pale pink with a salmon tint, the wine carries floral and strawberry aromas with raspberry and cherry blossom undertones. The finish is fresh and off-dry.

French Red
Red fruit and a grenadine-like character appear in a fresh, light profile. Grolleau and Gamay form the blend, and alcohol is listed at eleven percent. Green-pepper berry aromas and earthy mineral tones are also present; the style is light and ethereal. This natural red comes from Berrie in the Loire Valley and is classified as Vin de France.

French Red
Made from Grolleau, this red comes from the Loire and carries 10.4 percent alcohol. The estate’s vineyards are certified biodynamic and receive organic care without chemical treatments. Harvest is by hand. Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts, sulphur is kept to a minimum, and the wines are bottled without filtration. The release is classified as Vin de Pays du Val de Loire.

French Red
Purple-red colour accompanies anise, violet and prune. The profile includes a faintly crisp opening, berry character, tannin and acidity. Grolleau comes from ninety-year-old vines on clay-flint soil. Whole clusters macerate in concrete and are pressed; fermentation and maturation take place in fibreglass tank. The cuvée is a red Vin de France from the Loire Valley and is bottled without added sulphur.

Fruit comes from Julien Moreau's Domaine de Cambalu vineyards beside the Cher, a Loire tributary east of Tours, where vines grow on clay-limestone soils. Gamay and Grolleau are co-fermented for this red wine, which has eleven-point-five percent alcohol. The cuvée joined the range for this release and was made from grapes grown by another vigneron.

French Sparkling
Chenin comes from a southeast-facing site with light, well-draining Turonian chalk and resurfacing limestone; Grolleau grows on heavier clay-rich marl. Whole clusters were pressed at low pressure, with first-press and end-of-press juice separated. Ambient yeasts drove fermentation, malolactic conversion was blocked, and the wine rested briefly in stainless steel. Bottling took place in spring, followed by thirty months on lattes and a low dosage.
