Chambertin Grand Cru
Chambertin Grand Cru
Louis Jadot 2009 Chambertin Grand Cru
French Wine
Raspberry and cherry are framed by stone, smoke and liquorice. The palate is powerful and full-bodied, with intense yet finely delineated fruit, vibrant energy and considerable tannins. Its texture is mouth-coating without losing precision, and the finish is long, austere and complex, with a lingering inner fragrance. Decant carefully and serve with duck, venison, game birds or mushrooms.
Domaine Trapet Père et Fils 2009 Chambertin Grand Cru
French Wine
Red cherry, cassis and black raspberry rise from the glass with rose petal, stone, game, forest floor and dried herbs. The palate is deep and full-bodied but controlled, with silky tannins, fresh acidity and a mineral line carrying the fruit through a long savoury finish. Biodynamic farming brings no need for embellishment here; careful decanting and roast duck, venison or mushrooms will let the detail unfold.
Domaine Armand Rousseau 1994 Chambertin Grand Cru
French Red
Mature and remarkably balanced, with red fruit retaining freshness despite the vintage's leaner reputation. The palate avoids undue heaviness or tired fruit, showing a composed structure and firm, lightly green-edged tannins on the finish. It is drinking well now and may continue to hold. Stand upright, open carefully and serve with roast game or earthy mushroom dishes.
