Emandare Vineyard 2023 Sauvignon Blanc

$36.99

The Sauvignon Blanc vines grow on a south-sloping Cowichan Valley hillside in the rain shadow of Mount Prevost, overlooking Somenos Lake. The site includes some of Vancouver Island’s oldest plantings of the variety. The wine undergoes natural fermentation without new oak. The estate stewards this Cowichan Valley property alongside nature and uses old-world, low-intervention cellar methods.

About Emandare Vineyard
Mike and Robin Nierychlo bought Emandare’s dormant 8.5-acre property in 2013, restoring its neglected vines and building a winery for their first vintage in 2015. The vineyard faces south above Somenos Lake, in the rain shadow of Mount Prevost in Vancouver Island’s Cowichan Valley. They farm the estate organically without irrigation and also make wines from the old vines at Wolff Vineyard in Nanaimo. Native fermentations, neutral French oak and minimal handling are recurring features of the winemaking.
