Esencia Rural 2017 De Sol a Sol Velasco

Juicy red fruit, herbal notes and spice meet a deep, fresh and savoury palate. Marked acidity and integrated tannins accompany a long, slightly balsamic finish. The wine is made from Tinto Velasco grown near Quero in La Mancha. The vineyard covers less than one hectare and contains vines about 150 years old on sandy, calcareous soils. Grapes are hand harvested and fermented with native yeasts.

About Esencia Rural
Esencia Rural is Julián Ruiz's small mixed farm and winery in Quero, on the open plain of Toledo in Castilla-La Mancha. He grows vegetables alongside vines, with vineyards lying at roughly 680 to 740 metres on sandy, calcareous and clay soils. Airén, Tempranillo and the local Tinto Velasco are among his grapes.
Ruiz farms organically and incorporates selected biodynamic practices. His cellar work includes native-yeast fermentation, extended skin contact and the use of clay vessels.
