Blackberry and plum meet pepper, cedar, olives, bay leaf, vanilla and a stony charcoal note. The fruit is juicy, with balanced acidity and a medium-plus body. The single-vineyard wine is made entirely from Shiraz grown on red, basalt-rich soils in the Hunter Valley. It matures for thirteen months in a mix of new and old French hogsheads.

About Hope Estate
Hope Estate began in 1994 when pharmacist Michael Hope left his former career and, with his wife Karen, bought a 250-acre property at Broke with 30 acres under vine. A second 200-acre Fordwich property brought red basalt soils and substantial plantings of Shiraz and Merlot into the family operation. They bought and refitted the former Saxonvale winery in 1996, and the first Hope Estate vintage followed in 1997.
The business is centred on a 420-acre estate in Pokolbin, within the Hunter Valley. A brewery was added in 2014, followed by a grain distillery in 2020.
