Chateau Musar 2017 White

Brilliant full gold in colour, with butter, honey, roasted almonds, apricot, vanilla and orange. Toasty honey, ripe apricot, nuts and spice carry through the rich palate, balanced by good acidity. The blend is two-thirds Obaideh and one-third Merwah from low-yielding Mount Lebanon vineyards. Fermentation began in cement vats, followed by six to nine months in French Nevers oak barrels. Alcohol is twelve-and-a-half percent.

About Chateau Musar
Gaston Hochar founded Chateau Musar in 1930, inspired by Lebanon’s ancient wine culture and by his travels in Bordeaux. His son Serge became winemaker in 1959 and continued making wine through Lebanon’s civil war. The Hochar family continues to run the estate.
Grapes for the Chateau Musar red come from the Bekaa Valley, while Obaideh and Merwah for the white grow high on Mount Lebanon. The estate’s vineyards gained organic certification in 2006. Winemaking relies on ambient yeasts, low sulphur use and long maturation before release.
