Ochota Barrels 2023 Texture Like Sun

Forest fruit, spice and liquorice are present. The profile is supple, with fine tannins and a fruity finish. The blend includes Pinot Noir, Grenache, Gamay, Mourvèdre, Pinot Meunier, Gewürztraminer, Fragola, Riesling and Chardonnay. Fruit from certified-organic vines grows on clay over limestone. The grapes are destemmed and undergo a five-day cold soak. Some varieties are co-fermented, while others ferment separately. After basket pressing, the wine rests in stainless steel before blending and bottling. It is vegan.

About Ochota Barrels
Ochota Barrels took shape during a surf trip along Mexico's west coast in late 2000, when Taras and Amber Ochota decided to make wine back home in South Australia. Taras studied winemaking in Adelaide and worked in overseas cellars, while Amber’s experience included Italian vintages, vineyard development and wine analysis. They settled on a steep 9.6-acre property in Basket Range in the Adelaide Hills.
After Taras died in 2020, Amber continued making wine in the same cellar with a small team. The approach includes early picking for natural acidity, spontaneous fermentation and skin contact.
