Marqués de Murrieta 2009 Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial

$389.99

Tempranillo accounts for eighty-one percent of the blend and Mazuelo for nineteen percent. Dried flowers, eucalyptus, smoke and violets accompany depth of fruit, concentration and fine tannins. The finish is elegant and ethereal. The grapes come from the La Plana vineyard in Rioja Alta and spend twenty-six months in 225-litre American and French oak barrels.

About Marques de Murrieta
Luciano de Murrieta began making Rioja wine in 1852 after learning from Bordeaux practices and adapting them to local grapes. The Ygay estate later became the physical centre of Marqués de Murrieta, combining vineyards and the restored Castillo de Ygay. The Cebrián-Sagarriga family acquired the winery in 1983 and continues the current ownership and management chapter. The estate controls a large contiguous vineyard, while individual wines keep their own grape, parcel and ageing specifications. Historical exports and cellar milestones are documented by the producer, but reputation is not used as a substitute for factual evidence. Marqués de Murrieta remains anchored by the Ygay estate near Logroño and the Cebrián-Sagarriga family's stewardship.
