Fine redcurrant opens over sous-bois, autumn leaf and a quiet savoury edge. The palate is concentrated and firmly structured, with mature tannins and a taut line of acidity giving the fruit definition. Earthy woodland notes deepen through the middle, while the finish remains dry, persistent and composed rather than heavy. Decant carefully to soften the structure; serve with duck, roast veal, mushroom dishes or aged alpine cheese.

About August Kesseler
The August Kesseler estate was founded in 1924; August took over his parents’ small bulk-wine operation at the age of nineteen. Based in Assmannshausen, it draws on steep Rheingau sites shaped by quartzite and slate, with Riesling and Pinot Noir forming the heart of the cellar.
Vineyard lots are vinified separately before blending decisions are made. The Rieslings spend extended time on their fine lees in stainless steel, while Pinot Noir matures in oak barrels.
