Toasted bread and caramel lead the malt profile, followed by a restrained layer of chocolate and roast. Barke pilsner, Munich, crystal and Carafa malts give the palate breadth without sacrificing the clean shape of a dark lager. The finish remains composed and highly drinkable, with the roast kept subtle. Serve cool with sausages, roast pork, mushroom dishes, aged Gouda or rye bread.
