Blackberry and dark cherry lead, with liquorice, cocoa, cedar and savoury spice adding depth. The palate is medium- to full-bodied, carrying concentrated fruit through fine, chewy tannins and balanced acidity. Layered and composed through the long finish, it suits slow-roasted lamb, grilled beef, aged cheddar or mushroom-rich dishes.

About Wirra Wirra
Robert Strangways Wigley founded Wirra Wirra in McLaren Vale in 1894. The winery later fell into ruin, until Greg Trott rebuilt its ironstone cellars in the late 1960s. A three-quarter-tonne bell, the Woodhenge fence and a watermelon-launching catapult reflect Trott’s fondness for fun alongside the work of making wine.
The winery makes reds from McLaren Vale and whites from the cooler Adelaide Hills. Its gravity-fed cellar handles vineyard parcels separately, using small fermenters and daily tasting to guide each lot.
