Red cherry and plum lead, joined by liquorice, leather, dried flowers and a saline mineral note. The palate is deep and energetic, with lively acidity and firm, refined tannins supporting the mature fruit. Earth and spice add complexity through the middle, followed by a long, savoury finish with persistent citrus and red-fruit lift.

About Gianni Brunelli
Gianni Brunelli returned to Montalcino in 1987 when he repurchased Le Chiuse di Sotto, a property connected with his family’s earlier life. He and Laura expanded the project in the mid-1990s with Podernovone, adding a second vineyard area south of the town. After Gianni’s death, Laura continued to manage the estate and preserve the identity established across the two properties.
Sangiovese is the basis of the Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino wines, with the vineyards’ different settings retained in the estate story. The estate records the 1987 return, later expansion and present stewardship without turning romantic narrative into technical fact. The estate's Montalcino work continues through family-held vineyards and Sangiovese wines made under its own name.
