Rust en Vrede 2020 Estate Vineyards Syrah
$61.99
Floral perfume and musk lead the aroma, followed by blackberry compote, blueberry and ripe damson plum. Paprika, sweet red pepper and sandalwood add layered spice. The palate is round and juicy, with black cherry, crème de cassis and chilli chocolate developing through the middle. Dark fruit remains central to the close, with paprika, sandalwood and chocolate extending the layered spicy character.

About Rust en Vrede
Rust en Vrede’s title deed dates to 1694, and its Cape Dutch buildings to 1780. Jannie and Ellen Engelbrecht bought the Stellenbosch farm in 1977 and released their first vintage the following year; the family estate is now led by Jean Engelbrecht.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot are the focus, grown on the warm, sheltered lower slopes of the Helderberg. The vines are pruned and harvested by hand, and the wines are made and bottled on the property. Cellar work includes open-top fermentation, selective use of whole berries and ageing in French oak.
