A full-flavoured Alentejo red with blackberry, wild cherry and red berries, layered with black pepper, eucalyptus, tea and toasted oak. The palate is rich and firmly tannic, though bright acidity keeps the fruit and savoury notes in balance. The finish is long, carrying berry, spice and tea-like detail that suits grilled beef, lamb or slow-cooked dishes.

About Cartuxa
Cartuxa is the wine estate of Fundação Eugénio de Almeida, the foundation established in Évora in 1963 by Vasco Maria Eugénio de Almeida. Its cellar stands at Quinta de Valbom, beside the Cartuxa monastery, on land tied to family agriculture since the nineteenth century.
The foundation renewed its vineyards and olive groves in the 1980s. Income from the estate helps fund the foundation's cultural, educational and social work across the region. The vineyards lie around Évora in Alentejo, and the cellar works principally with Portuguese varieties.
