Deep ruby with wild blackberry at the centre, edged by gentle spice and a cool, resinous hint of pine. The palate is dry and velvety, with fine-grained tannins keeping the ripe fruit composed. Elegant rather than forceful, it carries fresh acidity and a delicate savoury line into a clean, quietly persistent finish.

About Julia Kemper
Julia de Melo Kemper was a lawyer in Lisbon before taking on the renewal of her family’s Quinta do Cruzeiro estate in the Dão at her father’s urging. She began the project in 2003, replanting the vineyards. The vines occupy a mountain-ringed plateau above Mangualde, rooted in granite soils and surrounded by olive trees, pine and native forest.
The vineyards are farmed organically. Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Alfrocheiro and Jaen lead the reds, while Encruzado and Malvasia Fina anchor the whites.
