Clare Valley
Clare Valley
Koerner 2019 La Korse
Cloudy and pale crimson in colour, with redcurrant, wild raspberry, pomegranate, mustard seed, rosehip and wet-rock notes. Salinity runs through the profile, with lifted acidity and fine tannins. The blend combines Sangiovese, Grenache, Malbec, Sciacarello and Carignan from three Watervale vineyards. Components underwent indigenous-yeast fermentation before time in ceramic egg and neutral oak. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration.
Rieslingfreak 2022 No. 3 Clare Valley Riesling
Papaya, neroli and nectarine shape the aromas. Lemon, mandarin and grapefruit drive an intensely flavoured yet delicate palate, held by a tight line of acidity through a long, zesty finish. The Riesling comes from the family vineyard at White Hutt in Clare Valley, where heavy red clay contributes richness and generous palate weight. Alcohol is 10.9 percent.
Koerner 2017 Classico Clare Valley Red
Dusky blackberry, black plum, cassis, violet and balsamic notes accompany long, suede-like tannins and fine acidity. Cabernet Sauvignon is joined by fifteen percent each of Malbec and Petit Verdot. Destemmed fruit ferments with native yeast, then spends four months in used barriques. The final blend matures for six months in a three-year-old seven-hundred-litre French barrel and a ceramic egg before bottling without fining or filtration.
Koerner 2022 Parish Vineyard Riesling
Parish Vineyard faces south in Watervale, with red clay over slate and vines planted more than a century ago. The fruit is hand-harvested and sorted, then crushed and destemmed before six hours on skins in the press. Natural fermentation uses ten percent ceramic amphora and ninety percent steel. The wine remains on fine lees in stainless steel for nine months and is bottled without fining or filtration.
Grosset 2021 Polish Hill Riesling
Lime juice, floral notes and intense lime-pith flavour appear with weight and power. Crisp, ultra-dry and lingering character also feature in this Riesling from the Polish Hill Vineyard in South Australia’s Clare Valley. The vineyard and winery are certified Organic and Biodynamic. Only free-run juice is used, and the finished wine is unfined and vegan.
Wakefield Estate Label 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon
Dark berry and red cherry lead, with cassis and plum adding depth. Roasted herbs, cocoa and a lightly toasted nut character bring savoury definition through the centre. The palate is full-bodied and dry, supported by fresh acidity and smooth, refined tannins. Gentle oak spice and a measured earthy note frame the fruit, carrying into a structured finish of currant, cherry and herbs.
Grosset 2016 Springvale Riesling
A pure and finely drawn Riesling, with lime and lemon leading into crisp apple and ripe pear. A chalky, limestone-like mineral character gives the palate shape, while bright acidity keeps the fruit pristine and energetic. Generous without losing precision, it carries through a long, clean finish with the balance to gain further depth in bottle. Excellent with oysters, white fish or lightly spiced dishes.
