Moulin Touchais 1955 Anjou
Translucent gold in color with hints of brown, a nose of smoky caramel with subtle truffle, and a palate of yellow apple with warm clove and Middle Eastern spices. The wine exhibits a rich sweetness balanced by its natural acidity, resulting in a long and complex finish.
Tasted in 2019 by Greg Sherwood MW, "Brine, tangerine peel, citrus, naartjie and pithy spicy herbal lift. Rich, sweet / sour tartness, bright, vibrant, deliciously juicy. Great salty opulence. Superb." - 96pts, Greg Sherwood
Taylor Fladgate 1994 Vintage Port
Deep crimson just beginning to display some maturity on the rim. The explosive fruitiness of early youth is now more restrained as the wine begins to settle into maturity but the nose is still driven by impressive focused blackberry and blackcurrant aromas set off by the classic Taylor scent of violets. Full bodied and well structured palate delivering rich blackberry and cassis flavours with spicy, figgy, liquorice flavours evolving on the long and sumptuous finish.
Fonseca 1970 Finest Vintage Port
"Fonseca 1970 was the finest bottle I have encountered. The bouquet opens beautifully with heady scents of clove, ginger, small red cherries, bergamot and allspice, displaying exquisite definition and harmony. The palate follows suit with lovely balance and poise in the mouth, notes of kirsch, shaved ginger and walnut building to an opulent, viscous finish that lacquers the mouth. Yet this bottle shows more control than the bottle tasted four years ago." - Robert Parker 95 points
Taylor Fladgate 1970 Vintage Port
A deep garnet core with a faded brick rim. The nose is still tight, youthful with notes of liquorice, raisin, boot-polish and a little lemongrass. Very well defined. The palate is full-bodied with firm tannins, very cohesive with superb ripeness: wild strawberry, lemongrass, smoke and dates with an incredibly long, persistent finish. There is an effortless nature to this wine.
