The palate is full and concentrated, with ripe tannins and fresh acidity keeping the fruit in focus. Hints of chocolate, liquorice and roasted herbs add savoury complexity, carrying into a long finish with depth and restraint.

About Vieux Château Certan
Vieux Château Certan’s history in Pomerol reaches back to the early sixteenth century; it appears as “Sertan” on the 1785 Belleyme map. Charles de Bousquet bought the property in 1858 and gave the château buildings their present form. Georges Thienpont acquired it in 1924, beginning the family ownership that continues today.
The fourteen-hectare vineyard forms a single block divided into twenty-three plots, tended according to their soils, grape varieties and vine ages. Merlot grows mainly on clay, Cabernet Franc on clay-gravel and Cabernet Sauvignon on the graveliest ground. Wines from the individual plots are assessed separately before blending.
