Telmo Rodriguez 2023 Al-Muvedre

$27.99

Fresh sour cherry is joined by almond, herbs, black pepper and an earthy iron note. Fine aromatic tannins frame the finish. Made entirely from Monastrell, the fruit comes from old vineyards in Alicante’s Vinalopó area. The vineyards have predominantly limestone and sandy or sandy-loam soils, sometimes with surface stones. Fermentation uses indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and cement, followed by six to eight months of maturation in the same materials.

About Telmo Rodriguez
Winemakers Telmo Rodríguez and Pablo Eguzkiza began their company in 1994 with Alma, an old-vine Garnacha from Navarra made when international grapes dominated. Their work travels across Spain to recover local varieties, historic terraces and neglected vineyard sites, now spanning 355 parcels, about 80 hectares and 43 native varieties. The portfolio moves from Rioja and Rueda to Cebreros, Valdeorras and Alicante, matching Corriente, Basa, Pegaso, Gaba do Xil and Al-Muvedre in this catalogue. Replanting original vines, rebuilding walls and reviving old cellars connects these otherwise distinct regional projects.
