Black cherry, plum and red berries lead, with violet, earth and peppery spice underneath. The palate is savoury and focused, its old-vine Baga character expressed through vivid acidity and firm tannins. Tobacco and mineral notes build with air, carrying the fruit into a dry, persistent finish.

About Luis Pato
Luis Pato comes from a Bairrada winegrowing family and bottled the first wine under his own name in 1980. He centred the project on regional grapes, particularly Baga for reds and Bical for whites, while testing new vineyard and cellar approaches. His work includes separate parcels and old-vine material across Bairrada, with each wine retaining its specific source and composition.
Daughter Maria João Pato has developed her own wines and collaborates within the family context, but her producer identity remains distinct. Documented experiments are described as dated milestones rather than proof that every current Luis Pato wine uses the same method. From Bairrada, Luis Pato continues to build his range around Baga and other Portuguese varieties.
