Maria Rigol Ordi 2024 Vinya Llarga Xarel·lo

Made entirely from Xarel·lo grown in the single Vinya Llarga parcel, the wine is pale straw-yellow, with apple, fennel, lemon-yogurt and saline notes. Half the wine ferments and ages in two 500-litre amphorae, while the other half uses stainless steel. The amphora portion spends six months on its lees. The profile has good acidity, candied fruit and ripe pear, with a lightly lactic finish. The vineyard is farmed organically.

About Maria Rigol Ordi
Maria Rigol Ordi traces its family wine tradition to 1897, when Maria's grandfather, Modest, began making his own wines. In the early 1980s Maria and her son Francesc started a small cellar beneath the family home in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia; the present house was founded in 1987.
For its cava, hand-picked grapes are gently pressed, and a second fermentation in bottle is followed by extended ageing on lees. The bottles are turned and their sediment removed by hand.
