The palate is concentrated yet remarkably poised, with polished fruit, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity carried through a long, savoury finish. About Château Lafite Rothschild
Château Lafite Rothschild was documented as a wine-producing property by 1234 and was ranked a First Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification. Baron James de Rothschild acquired the Pauillac estate in 1868, beginning more than 150 years of stewardship by successive family generations. Saskia de Rothschild became chairwoman of Domaines Barons de Rothschild in 2018, representing the sixth generation. The vineyard’s gravel and clay regulate water around a subtle rise known historically as La Hite, while the grand vin is matured in French oak made by the group’s own Pauillac cooperage.
