About Château Léoville Poyferré
Château Léoville Poyferré is a Saint-Julien estate formed from the historic Léoville property and classified as a Second Growth in 1855. The Cuvelier family acquired the château in 1920, creating a century-long ownership link that continues through the current generation. The vineyard sits within the gravel landscapes of Saint-Julien and is planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by other Bordeaux varieties.
Recent work has combined parcel-level vineyard study with continued investment in the cellar, while retaining the estate’s classified identity. Ownership, technical direction and historical classification remain distinct parts of the estate's history. The estate's documented arc runs from the historic Léoville division to the Cuvelier family's century of stewardship in Saint-Julien.
