About Dog Point Vineyard
Ivan and Margaret Sutherland planted vines in Marlborough’s Southern Valleys in the late 1970s. Ivan later worked alongside winemaker James Healy at Cloudy Bay; with Margaret and Wendy Healy, they launched Dog Point in 2004 with wines from the 2002 vintage. The vineyard remains family-owned, with the next Sutherland generation handling day-to-day management.
Its BioGro-certified organic vineyards grow Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Yields are kept low and the grapes are harvested by hand.
