About Chateau Montrose
Château Montrose grew from land cleared and planted in 1815 on a gravel rise overlooking the Gironde in Saint-Estèphe. Its ascent was unusually rapid: the estate entered the 1855 Bordeaux classification as a Second Growth when the vineyard was only about forty years old. The vines form a single continuous block, where deep gravel and clay provide natural drainage and retain water through dry periods. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the grand vin, giving the property a clear Médoc identity shaped by its river-facing site and long-established parcel structure.
