Ripe red fruit, fragrant rye and fresh-cut oak lead into mild toffee, baking spice, cedar and bitter citrus zest. The palate is rich and weighty but carefully balanced, with pepper and warm wood carrying through the long finish. This retired first XR edition combines mature whisky from the former Waterloo distillery with Crown Royal whisky from Gimli. Best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water.

About Crown Royal
Crown Royal was created in 1939 for the Canadian visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. More than six hundred trials preceded the final blend, which was presented in a cut-glass decanter and the purple bag that remains one of the label’s signatures.
Its distillery in Gimli, Manitoba, stands on the western shore of Lake Winnipeg, where whisky is distilled, matured and blended. The team works with corn, rye and barley in different recipes, ageing the whiskies in new or reused charred oak before blending.
