Tantalus 2023 Old Vines Riesling

Broken stone, wild herbs, earthy grass and eraser notes meet lime leaf, lime pith, green apple, verbena and pear. The palate is medium-bodied, with nervy acidity and a brisk, grippy finish. Riesling comes from an established two-acre block on deep silty soil. The fruit is sustainably farmed, cropped low and cellared for two years before release.

About Tantalus Vineyards
Eric Savics established Tantalus in 2004 after acquiring Pioneer Vineyards, a property first planted to table grapes in 1927. Riesling from 1978 and Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from 1985 form the vineyard’s old-vine foundation. Later planting focused on these three varieties and expanded the mix of clones.
The winery, completed in 2010, was designed with energy efficiency in mind. Grapes are handled gently, with native or selected yeasts used according to variety and season. The labels feature masks by Tahltan-Tlingit artist Dempsey Bob, a long-time friend of Savics.
