Père Magloire X.O. Calvados Pays d’Auge 500 mL
$44.99
Quince paste and candied orange open the nose, joined by cinnamon, black pepper and blond tobacco. The palate is rich but composed, layering caramelized apple and warm compote with candied apricot, cocoa and mature oak. Double distillation and more than nine years in old oak casks give the spirit depth and length without losing its apple-driven character. The finish brings warm apple compote and a broad blend of spices. Serve neat in a tulip glass after dinner.

About Père Magloire
Founded in Normandy in 1821, Père Magloire takes its name from Dominique Magloire, an innkeeper known for serving the local Calvados. In the Pays d’Auge, roughly one hundred cider-apple varieties grow on clay-limestone soils under a temperate maritime climate.
Cider is distilled either once in column stills or twice in copper pot stills, depending on the appellation and style. The spirits age in a combination of younger and older oak casks before the cellar master brings them together in the final blends.
