Anise and fennel lead with clarity, followed by earthy grande wormwood, grassy herbs and a measured layer of spice. The palate is intense yet composed, with whole botanicals giving the spirit depth rather than artificial sweetness. Traditional copper-pot distillation at the historic Combier Distillery in France’s Loire Valley preserves a classic, herb-driven style, while the finish remains moderately long and savoury. Serve traditionally by slowly adding cold water, with sugar optional, or use a small measure to perfume a Sazerac or Corpse Reviver No. 2.

About Distillerie Combier
Distillerie Combier makes Lucid Absinthe in Saumur in France’s Loire Valley. The distillery dates to 1834, with a history of absinthe-making that reaches back to the late nineteenth century.
Scientist and distiller T.A. Breaux created Lucid as a return to traditional French absinthe. Its 2007 launch marked the legal return of grande-wormwood absinthe to the United States after a 95-year absence. Lucid is distilled from whole European herbs without added flavourings or dyes.
