Lopez De Heredia 2011 Vina Tondonia Mg
$219.99
A classic mature Rioja with dried cherry, orange peel and red plum, layered with cedar, tobacco, vanilla and sweet spice. The palate is refined and graceful, with silky, resolved tannins and bright acidity giving the evolved fruit freshness. Subtle oxidative and savoury notes carry through the long finish. Decant gently and serve with lamb, mushrooms or aged cheese.

About Lopez de Heredia
Rafael López de Heredia y Landeta began designing and building his winery in Haro around 1877, after studying methods brought to Rioja by French merchants. Four generations of the family have continued the winemaking, and the cellars remain in Haro’s historic railway district.
The winery works only with grapes and wines from its own Rioja vineyards, including Tondonia, Bosconia and Cubillo. Both red and white wines receive extended ageing in oak barrels in deep underground galleries, followed by further time in bottle before release.
