AboutYalumba

Samuel and Mary Smith founded Yalumba near Angaston in 1849. The fifth and sixth generations of the Hill-Smith family now work across its vineyards, winemaking and wider business.

The winery has its own barrel-making workshop, along with a vine nursery supplying its vineyards and other Australian growers. Its wines include Viognier, Barossa Grenache and The Caley, a Cabernet–Shiraz blend.

Yalumba 2023 Y Series Viognier

Australian White
$21.99

White flowers and honeysuckle lead, followed by apricot, ginger and a touch of five-spice. The palate is generous yet balanced, with a creamy mid-palate and fresh acidity keeping the ripe stone fruit in check. Lees ageing adds gentle texture and complexity before a silky, lightly spiced finish, making this expressive Australian white a fine match for roast chicken, seafood or aromatic vegetable dishes.

Yalumba 2017 The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon

Australian Red
$499.99

Fruitcake, plum cordial and cherry chocolate lead, joined by cola, sweet spice and a measured note of toasted vanilla. The palate remains rich and powerful, with dried fruit and savoury complexity held by firm, oak-shaped tannins. Decant well to let the structure relax, then serve with roast lamb, braised beef, grilled ribeye, mushroom dishes or aged cheddar.

Yalumba 2019 The Menzies Cabernet Sauvignon

Australian Red
$112.99

Deep crimson and plum tones accompany violet, ozone and exotic spice. The palate has poise and tension, with blackcurrant jubes, mulberry, bitter chocolate and defined tannins. The finish shows sweet dark fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon grows in Coonawarra’s red sandy loam over limestone. The vineyard blocks were planted in the mid-nineteen-nineties. Maturation lasts eighteen months in French and Hungarian oak, using new and older barrels.

Yalumba 2012 The Caley Cabernet Shiraz

Australian Red
$599.99

A composed Cabernet–Shiraz blend with cassis, violet and rose petal, followed by iodine, cedar and a fine mineral note. The palate is deep and seamless, bringing Cabernet structure together with the breadth of Shiraz. Chalky tannins and fresh acidity shape the long finish, giving the wine the balance for roast beef, lamb or slow-cooked dishes.
