AboutVista D'Oro Farms & Winery
Patrick and Lee Murphy bought a disused dairy farm in South Langley in 1997 and gradually turned it into Vista D’Oro Farms & Winery. Patrick began working full time at the winery in 2007, drawing on home winemaking, visits to small family cellars and coursework at UC Davis. Lee draws on her culinary training at The Preservatory, making preserves with fruit from the farm and nearby growers.
The ten-acre property combines vines and heritage orchards, with wines and ciders made in small batches. Walnuts play an unusual role: the flagship D’Oro is a fortified walnut wine, while Pinot Noix reuses its spent green walnut husks.
Vista D’Oro 2015 D’Oro Fortified Walnut Wine
Canadian Dessert
Toasted nuts and roasted hazelnut meet caramelized sugar, dried fig and warm baking spice in a deep, velvety after-dinner pour. Dark honey, molasses and subtle vanilla broaden the palate, while vibrant acidity keeps the richness defined. Smooth and warming, it finishes at length with roasted nuts, sweet spice and a poised savoury edge.
Vista D’Oro NV Pinot Noix
Canadian Dessert
Dry and distinctly savoury, this sherry-like specialty wine brings Pinot Noir together with green walnut husks from the estate. The palate is gently vinous rather than overtly fruity, with layered walnut depth and a firm, food-friendly finish. Its unusual balance of wine and nuts makes it particularly suited to cheese, charcuterie or pâté.
