AboutViña La Rosa
Francisco Ossa y Mercado bought the Peumo estate and its vineyards in 1824, beginning the story of Viña La Rosa. More than six generations of the Ossa family have continued the work, also establishing a school, health post and theatre in Peumo.
Today the estate farms over 600 hectares of vineyards across La Rosa, Cornellana and La Palmería in the Cachapoal Valley. The team matches grape varieties to the varied soils shaped by the Coastal Range, and bottles the wines at the estate’s historic cellar.
Cornellana XL 40 Years 2013 Red Blend Reserve
Carménère forms eighty-five percent of the blend, joined by ten percent Cabernet Franc and five percent Syrah. Fermentation uses wild yeasts, and the wine matures for twelve months in French oak. The profile is full-bodied and silky, with balanced acidity. This organic red comes from Peumo in Chile’s Cachapoal Valley. It suits red meat, mature cheese or game.
