AboutVillota

The Pérez Villota family has farmed San Rafael, on a bend of the Ebro in Rioja Alavesa, since 1930. In 2014, Ricardo Pérez Villota and his daughter Carmen established Viña del Lentisco to make wines under the Villota name, following the end of the family’s association with Contino.

Four generations have expanded the vineyards while preserving old bush-trained vines and local Rioja varieties. The land rises through three river terraces, from sand to clay and rounded stones, then clay-limestone soils.

Villota 2022 Selvanevada Blanco Rioja

Spanish White
$44.99
Anjou pear, cantaloupe and fennel pollen accompany guava, apricot, cocoa butter, orange blossom and aniseed. The palate is bright, medium-bodied and creamy, with fresh white fruit, green apple, stone and sage. Viura makes up ninety-one percent of the blend, joined by Tempranillo Blanco and Garnacha Blanca. The Viura is aged in French oak, while the other varieties are aged in stainless steel, before a lemon-curd finish.
