Château Tronquoy-Lalande

Château Tronquoy-Lalande in Saint-Estèphe takes its name from its first owner, François Tronquoy, and La Lande, the plot where the vineyard was planted. The eighteenth-century property grew around a pale-stone manor designed for the Tronquoy family by Victor Louis, architect of Bordeaux’s Grand Théâtre. Jean Texier and Arlette Castéja-Texier acquired it in 1968; in 2006 Martin and Olivier Bouygues took over and began a modernization programme completed with a new vat house and barrel hall in 2010.

The vineyard runs as one continuous 30-hectare parcel over deep gravel and clay; natural drainage and the nearby Gironde estuary moderate the site. Merlot leads the plantings by a narrow margin over Cabernet Sauvignon, with Petit Verdot completing the mix. The red wine is aged for twelve months in French barrels; the estate achieved organic certification in 2024.
