AboutDomaine de Trévallon
Domaine de Trévallon grew from a family move to the Alpilles: Jacqueline de la Baume and the painter and sculptor René Dürrbach acquired the property in 1960. Their son Éloi put Trévallon’s first vines into the ground in 1973, choosing Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah in equal measure for north-facing limestone terraces. René also designed the labels, with artwork that changes from vintage to vintage.
The domaine farms roughly fifteen hectares across a mosaic of over forty parcels, working organically on stony slopes where garrigue, trees and vines share the landscape. For the red wine, hand-picked whole bunches ferment with indigenous yeasts and no added sulphur. It then matures for more than two years in large oak casks and is bottled without filtration. Since Éloi’s death in 2021, his daughter Ostiane has led the domaine with Antoine and Isoline.
Domaine de Trévallon 2011 IGP Alpilles
Lush dark fruit meets dried herbs, black pepper and a cool stony note in a deeply savoury expression. The palate has generous ripeness but remains energetic, carried by juicy acidity, chalky minerality and ripe, well-integrated tannins. Earth and pepper return on the structured finish. Decant for an hour and serve with lamb, grilled meats or lentils.
